Location

Taumarunui Holiday Park is marked on the upper Whanganui River map and the Ongarue River map.

Cabins

  • Family standard cabins have a double bed and a set of bunks
  • Two to three person standard cabins have two or three single beds
  • The beds have pillows and a bottom sheet
  • Bedding and towel hire is available
  • Plates and cutlery is provided in all cabins
  • All cabins are heated and are non smoking
  • Cabins have use of the communal kitchen, toilets and showers

Self contained family unit

  • A double bedroom and bunks for the children
  • Private bathroom and kitchen
  • Private kitchen supplied with all crockery and cutlery, pots and pans, small colour TV, microwave, hotplates and fridge
  • Bedding and towel hire available

Communal facilities

  • The communal kitchen is well equipped with modern full sized stoves, a microwave, fridge and colour TV
  • A fire place is also provided for cosy winter nights
  • The guest laundry has a commercial washing machine and dryer
  • Clean ablution block and showers that are not metered
  • A gas BBQ is provided free for guest use
Local attractions and activities
  • Canoeing on the Whanganui River: your hosts can help you organise one to five day Whanganui River Journey canoe trips, either guided or self hire
  • Walking the Tongariro Crossing, one of New Zealand's finest day walks: your hosts offer a drop up and pick up service for $25 per person (minimum two people)
  • Walk the many other local tracks, such as Ohinetonga, Sunshine track, Round the Mountain and the Northern Circuit
  • Skiing on the Whakapapa ski fields, just 35 minutes drive away
  • Do the Raurimu Spiral: a great way to see the Central Plateau, this trip takes you down to National Park then back to Taumarunui in half a day
