Fishing at Kaiwarau Station

Kaiwarau Station boasts over 20 km of river fishing water. There are two crystal clear wilderness rivers, untouched mountain streams, and still pockets, containing wild brown trout and each offering its own challenge. This is truly an angler’s paradise.

Fishing on the rivers that run through this private land, offers rare opportunities to the discerning fisherman. These wild fish will spook easily so need to be stalked with care. The fishing is sight fishing, using dry flies and nymphs casting upstream to your sighted fish.

Access is on foot or by 4WD vehicle. Pickups and drop offs can be arranged.

The brown trout here are elusive, great fighters and well conditioned. To maintain this breeding river Kaiwarau Station has a catch and release policy.

The rivers on Kaiwarua Station are open from the beginming of October to the end of April each year. Near by lakes and canals are open all year round.
