The Motu
River, which is within walking distance, is one of New Zealand's
best dry fly fishing rivers, and probably the best brown trout fishery
in the North Island.

| A typical day |
- Start the day with a cooked or continental
breakfast and pick up a packed lunch for the fishermen
- After a days fishing come back to relaxed
atmosphere of Hazelwood, a homestead registered with the Historic
Places Trust and built in 1908 for Simon's great-grandfather.
- Sit on the balcony with a drink as the shadows
lengthen across the lawn or argue amiably over a game of petanque
down by the creek.
- Enjoy a three course meal of all things New Zealand
served in the dining room looking out onto the informal park like
gardens.
- Take a break from fishing and soothe the
soul with a walk to Kotare Stations Back River Hut and take in
the high peaks, stunning native bush and crystal clear mountain
streams
- Take a gentle walk along the Winray Track
to view the Motu Falls
- Helicopter flyins by arrangement

Guiding
The daily guiding fee includes lunch. Transport
to remote areas may be extra.
