Location

Lake Aniwhenua Lodge is marked on the mid Rangitaiki River and Lake Aniwhenua map.

The lake is in the central North Island of New Zealand and located to the east by Te Urewera National Park, and to the west by Kaingaroa Forest.

Directions

The lodge and motel is only a 45 minute drive on sealed highway from either Rotorua or Whakatane or 75 minutes from Taupo. For driving directions, please see the Lake Aniwhenua Lodge website.

Lake Aniwhenua Lodge is a family business. The Ryder family are your hosts, and, if you require a guide, also your trout fishing and hunting charter guides.

Fly fishing in Lake Aniwhenua

Full day guiding fee includes lunch, beverages and GST (tax):

  • NZ$600 for one or two anglers per day
  • NZ$350 for one or two anglers per half day
  • NZ$100 per extra angler

Fly fishing the Rangitaiki River

Full day guiding fee includes 4WD transport, lunch, beverages and GST (tax):

  • NZ$600 for one or two anglers per day
  • NZ$350 for one or two anglers per half day
  • NZ$100 per extra angler

Fly fishing the tributary rivers and streams

Full day guiding fee includes 4WD transport, lunch and beverages GST (tax):

  • NZ$600 for one or two anglers per day
  • NZ$350 for one or two anglers per half day

Saltwater fly fishing

  • Off shore: NZ$1400 per day for one to four anglers
  • In shore: NZ$700 per day for one to two anglers
  • Includes:
    - Return transport from Lake Aniwhenua Lodge
    - Charter boat
    - Professional guide
    - Saltfly rods, reels and lines
    - Berley
    - Lunch and refreshments

Helicopter wilderness

  • Helicopter transport:
    NZ$800-NZ$1400 depending on location
  • Guiding:
    NZ$600 for one or two anglers/hunters per day (incl. GST)
    NZ$100 per extra angler (including GST)
Booking

Phone, email or use the online booking form to book accommodation or guided fly fishing.

  • A deposit equal to the first nights accommodation is required to confirm accommodation bookings.
  • A 25% deposit is required to confirm bookings for guided fly fishing.
  • Visa, Mastercard and Eftpos accepted.
Cancellation policy

All bookings can be cancelled with refund of your deposit if the timeframe meets our requirements:

A refund is not given for late arrivals or early departures.

 

Guided fly fishing

  • Refundable (less booking fee) if cancelled 60 days prior to booked date.
  • 50% refundable if cancelled 30 days prior to booked date.
