The fishing
  • Lake Tutira provides good year-round fishing for brown and rainbow trout averaging 2-4 lb. The lake is easily accessible with good-shore based fishing especially during spring and autumn. A slow-sinking line and dragonfly imitation fished along the weed beds is particularly effective. • The lower Mohaka (30-40 minutes drive) provides great year round fishing
  • The Waiikoau River (10 minutes drive) though small, produces fish close to double figures on occasion
  • The Esk Rver (30 minutes drive) provides great headwater fishing to large rainbows during the open season
