Excellent trout fishing in the Waiwhenua farm's private stretch of the Tutaekuri River is available to the discerning angler with help and advice at hand.

Tutaekuri River

Location

Waiwhenua Homestead and Annies Cottage are marked on the upper Tutaekuri River map.

Setting Both the beautifully maintained homestead and separate cottage on the owner's extensive sheep, cattle and deer farm are over 120 years old. You can enjoy privacy, quiet and views of the mountains, river and and garden.
Waiwhenua Homestead

The homestead offers dinner, bed and breakfast accommodation with the following facilities:

Annie's Cottage

Annie's Cottage is a recently renovated, fully self contained, three bedroom, historic farm cottage. It offers guests:

  • Extensive views over farm land and beyond to the cliffs of the trout filled Tutaekuri River.
  • Fully equipped kitchen, including fridge, dishwasher, oven and microwave
  • Balcony and private garden
  • Fireplace with wood supplied
  • Pillows, blankets, duvets and linen supplied
  • Bath and shower
  • Portacot and high chair for the little ones
  • BBQ
  • Stereo and television
  • Tea, coffee and sugar provided
  • Laundry facilities and automatic washing machine
  • Double garage
  • Breakfast and other meals by prior arrangement (featuring home grown beef, lamb or venison)
  • Use of the swimming pool, games room and verandah at the homestead
Fishing the Tutaekuri at Waiwhenua
  • Guests can enjoy excellent trout fishing on a private stretch of the Tutaekuri River on the Waiwhenua farm
  • Fishing guiding available - Jason, the Waiwhenua farm hand and fishing guide, will guide guests to the best fishing holes on the river
  • Rental equipment is available
  • More fishing waters within 20-30 minutes drive of the farm

Activities at the Waiwhenua farm

  • Informative farm tours are included in the accommodation, provided by either Kirsty, Gary or fishing guide Jason
  • Meet the Waiwhenua farm animals and feed pet sheep Tigger, Ben, Flipper and Snow White
  • Swimming in the pool and river

Other local attractions

  • Many mountain and lake walks a half hour drive
  • The central Hawkes Bay location makes the farm a great base for exploring the greater Hawkes Bay area

Waiwhenua Homestead

Waiwhenua Homestead's tariff includes breakfast, with other meals available on request.

  • $120 - $150 per night for double occupancy
  • $60 per extra person (up to five guests)

Annie's Cottage

Annie's Cottage's tariff is for exclusive use of the cottage for up to six guests. Extra guests and weekly rates are negotiable.

  • $150 - $200 per night from December to February
  • $120 - $200 per night from March to November
