Station is nestled on the shores of Lake
Coleridge amid superb mountain scenery, in a high country area
renowned for its salmon and trout fishing, There are some small
lakes and rivers on Ryton Station that are also available for fishing.
Guiding, gear & licences are available too.
The choice of accommodation at Ryton Station
includes fully-catered private chalets, a self-catering lodge, and
holiday houses situated at the head of the lake.

Ryton Station is marked on
the Lake
Coleridge map and the upper

Waimakariri River map.
Ryton Station is on the north side of Lake Coleridge.
The homestead is only 1.5 hours drive from Christchurch city and
international airport. Good roads provide access all year round.
Note that you need your own transport and the
nearest shops and petrol outlets are one hour away in Methven or
Darfield. There is no cell phone coverage on Ryton Station but there
is limited coverage on the Coleridge Road.

Ryton Station is located at the foot of the spectacular
Southern Alps in a natural, peaceful, environment with fantastic surrounding
scenery. It is a land of rugged mountains, braided rivers, opalscent
lakes, and scenery with few equals. It is also the home to the country's
largest sheep stations and steeped in New Zealand history. |

Seven full-catered ensuite
private chalets overlook Lake Coleridge
- Wake up each morning to peace, quiet and
a superb view overlooking Lake Coleridge and the mountains

breakfast in the homestead with the family

- Tea and coffee facilities are provided in
the chalets
- Laundry facilities, telephone, television
including Sky are available in the homestead.

| Ryton Lodge |
Ryton Lodge sleeps as
many as 15 people in modern, clean, warm accommodation (and up to
20 using two adjoining ensuite bedrooms).
- Guests have their own bedroom and share kitchen
and bathroom facilities
- Bring your own bed linen (only pillows are
provided) or bedding can be supplied on request.
- There are five carpeted bedrooms, with a
combination of beds and bunks
- In addition, there are two ensuite bedrooms
that adjoin the lodge, one with a queen bed and the other with
a queen and a single bed
- Suitable for families or groups. If your
group is big enough to full the lodge you may have the whole lodge
to yourself.
- The large shared cooking and living area
is equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, two ovens, a laundry,
drying room and television.
- The lodge is kept warm with electric heating
- Available all year round
- Bookings are necessary

| Holiday houses |
Three fully-furnished
warm, clean and comfortable self-catering holiday houses can be
rented.
- Pillows are provided but other bedding is
required, or can be supplied on request.
- Located 12km from the homestead on Ryton
Station, nestled in a mature setting at the head of Lake Coleridge,
surrounded by mountains and South Island high country.
- Room for up to 29 people in total if each
bed is full in each house.
- Each house has a living room and a fully
equipped kitchen with a microwave and fridge-freezer.
- No television reception available or telephone,
but a phone is available in a private home for emergencies.
Harper House
Harper House has four bedrooms and can sleep
9 people:
- One room with a double bed
- Two rooms with two single beds
- The fourth room with a single and a bunk bed.
Rakaia House
Rakaia House has five bedrooms and can sleep
11 people. It has two showers and two toilets.
- One room with a double and a single bed
- Three rooms with a bunk bed in each
- The fifth room has two single beds
Wilberforce House
Wilberforce House has three bedrooms that can
sleep 6, plus an extra bunk room which enables up to 10 people to
stay:
- Two rooms with a double bed in each
- The third room with two single beds.
- An extra room off the kitchen with two bunks

| 4WD self-drive tours |

- A network of off road tracks enables you
to traverse the High Country from station to station, starting
north of the Rakaia at Ryton Station, Lake Coleridge, and finishing
near Cromwell. The trail winds its way via station tracks, back
country roads and in some places public roads, through some of
the remotest areas in the South Island
- The trip takes five days and six nights.
It covers about 600kms, and is broken up into 5 to 6 hour days.
Part trips are also available.
- The route is suitable for any high clearance
four wheel drive vehicle. Tracks can be varied to suit experience
levels.
- Road tyres are acceptable provided they have
3/4 of their tread and do not have a soft casing. Fuel stops are
not a problem for diesel or petrol vehicles.
- Accommodation each night is in farmstays
with the families with all meals and linen supplied.
- Plenty of time for fishing, walking, picnicking,
mountain biking, swimming.
- A brochure and additional information including

The Mt Olympus ski field access tow is only half an hour from
Ryton Station and transport can be provided. Mt Hutt and Porter
Heights ski fields are both less than 60 minutes away.
