Fishing charters

Your locally born host John Clifford, who has been fishing the Bay of Islands for decades, runs Hananui Fishing Charters.

Sea fishing charters are available to everyone, not just guests at Hananui. They cater for those who already love fishing and those keen to give it a go. The minimum of two people is required and a maximum of four applies.

Four hour charter

Enjoy four hours of morning or afternoon fishing. Fish most likely to be caught on this trip are snapper, trevalli, kahawai (also known as sea trout) and terakihi. You'll be provided with bait, rod and tackle and Hananui Fishing Charters will even clean and fillet your fish at the end of the trip.

Six hour charter

If you are looking for a little more excitement and challenge what about experiencing a kingfish at the end of your line? These fish live further out, so you'll need another couple of extra hours to get you there and back. For this reason, charters tend to start out in the morning. Hananui provides the bait, rod, tackle and will clean and fillet your fish at the end of the trip.
