The purpose-designed, delightful country cottage is set in a large country garden, surrounded by native bush. A warm welcome and friendly, kiwi style hospitality await you. The cottage is serviced daily and you can choose between catered or self-catering.

Pininoa is an ideal place both for independent anglers and those who would like a guide or heli fishing.

Location

Chalet Pininoa is located between Greymouth and Reefton. It is marked on the lower Grey River map.

Driving times are:

- 20 minutes from Greymouth

- 25 minutes from Reefton

- 3 hours from Christchurch via Arthur's Pass

- 4-5 hours from Nelson or Picton and the Cook Strait Ferry

Setting

Located on a 50 acre property in a secluded rural environment, Chalet Pininoa caters for guests who appreciate, peace, tranquility and privacy.

Accommodation

Chalet Pininoa is a warm, two bedroom fully self-contained, luxury chalet accommodating up to four adults and offering self catering or B&B options for a single party at a time.

The chalet provides:

  • Beautifully polished matai floors, rimu walls and a cathedral ceiling
  • Quality furnishings, firm comfortable mattresses with electric blankets, fluffy goose down duvets (non allergenic also available) and clean, freshly ironed, luxury linen, large fluffy towels, robes and specially handcrafted soap
  • Queen bedroom on the mezzanine floor and a small twin bedroom, private bathroom, lounge and kitchenette on the ground floor
  • Lounge with a view across the fields to the Paparoa Mountains
  • A kitchenette with a selection of teas, coffee etc and a small selection of provisions if you wish to make an evening meal.
  • A special breakfast basket including organic free-range eggs, fresh fruit, yoghurt, and fresh organic homemade bread that is delivered to you in the evening so you may breakfast at your leisure.
  • Freshly ground, organic fair trade coffee.

Fly fishing options

Chalet Pininoa practices a strict "catch and release" policy. Pininoa can:

  • Provide you with information and point you in the right direction if you are an independent angler with your own gear and transport.
  • Arrange an experienced fly fishing guide with over 30 years experience and extensive knowledge of the West Coast wilderness.
  • Provide coaching in all aspects of fly-fishing, from choosing a fly to landing the fish, for the expert angler or the beginner
  • Organise for you to be picked up from the Chalet by 4 wheel drive and head off road to secluded streams, rivers or lakes, where you will be shown the best places to catch trout (including to the Lake Brunner area which is world famous for its brown trout fishing).
  • Arrange pick up from the chalet by helicopter for a fantastic days fishing in rivers and streams that are well off the beaten track to premier fly fishing locations.
  • Have a photographer record your adventure on film for your friends and family to admire and to ensure your fly fishing New Zealand adventure is a lasting memory.
  • Provide equipment on guided trips if you don't have your own

Chalet Pininoa use a very competent and experienced helicopter company and guide. They believe in using the best rather than the cheapest.

Four Wheel Drive Option

NZ$1,015.00 per day for two adults includes:

NZ$2,515.00 per day for two adults includes:

All rates are based on two guests sharing one room. There are two levels of tariff depending on your requirements:

Premier

  • From NZ$199.00 double
  • NZ$70.00 one extra adult

    - Check in 3.00-8.00 pm
    - Check out by 11.00 am
  • Use of chalet computer with broadband
  • Breakfast basket with full breakfast provisions

Kiwi SuperGold Card Holders Special

  • NZ$299.00 double
  • Two nights accommodation

  • Available 1 October to 20 December

Late Availability Basic

This option caters for those who just want safe, secure accommodation and a clean, comfortable bed for the night.

  • NZ$100.00 double, cash only
  • 12 hours advance bookings
  • Twin bedroom only
  • Check in 6.00-8.00 pm, check out 10.00 am
  • Includes bathroom and tea/coffee making facilities
  • Does not include full use of chalet or breakfast

Special Rate Over Christmas

Applies from 24th to 27th December inclusive.

  • NZ$265.00 double per night
  • NZ$80.00 one extra adult
  • NZ$130.00 two extra adults

Meals Available by Prior Arrangement

  • NZ$55.00 per person: Dinner
  • NZ$15.00 per person: Wine and cheese platter

Diabetic options are available.

Restrictions

Chalet Pininoa is:

  • A non smoking property.
  • Not able to cater for children.
Bookings

Please phone or email to make an accommodation and/or fly fishing booking, or use the online form at the Chalet Pininoa website.

  • Bookings are essential for both accommodation and fly fishing.
  • To secure your booking, a non refundable deposit is required:
    - NZ$50.00 to secure a chalet reservation except at Xmas
    - NZ$250 to secure a Christmas reservation
    - 25% of booking to secure fishing with a guide
Cancellation policy

Chalet Pininoa will always try and accommodate any change in dates. As Chalet Pininoa is a small, unique B&B  taking one party of guests at a time, cancellations can affect them greatly. Please be aware that by confirming your booking and supplying your credit card details you are accepting the Cancellation Policy.

Chalet Pininoa makes the following cancellation charges:

  • Cancellation within 24 hours of making the reservation: No charge.
  • All cancellations: Administration fee of $50.00.
  • Less than 10 days notice: One night.
  • Cancellation within 72 hours of your anticipated arrival date: Full amount of your stay.
  • If you check out before your confirmed departure date: Full amount of the reservation.
  • For Christmas bookings, cancellation within 21 days of stay: Full amount of the reservation.

All charges are debited against the credit card number supplied at the time the reservation was first made.

In case of a no show the remainder of the days booked will be considered cancelled "and full charges will be billed to the credit card."

Travel insurance is always recommended for unforeseen events.
