Fishing waters

Karamea River and its tributaries: the Crow, the Ugly, the Beautiful, the Roaring Lion, the Leslie and many other smaller tributaries such as the Kakapo.

Location

Karamea Lodge is situated in the semi-tropical northwest corner of the South Island, 14 kilometres north of Little Wanganui and 4 kilometres south of the Karamea village, on the main Karamea Highway.

It is marked on the Karamea River map.

Driving distances are:

- 80 minute drive north of Westport on State Highway 67

- 4.5 hours drive from Nelson

- 6 hour drive from Christchurch

Setting

Karamea Lodge's blissfully quiet setting borders native bush on the warm sheltered waters of the glorious Otumahana Estuary. Panoramic views change with the ebb and flow of the tide and birdsong harmonises with the rhythmic sound of surf on the beach.
