Rough and Tumble Bush Lodge epitomises rustic elegance with its beautifully appointed rooms in a peaceful bush setting right by the river.

Cast for sea-run trout directly outside the lodge, or chopper up to the world-class wilderness fishing above the Mokihinui Forks. Go for the day or overnight, returning to sumptuous food and relaxation.

Location/directions

The Rough and Tumble Bush Lodge is located on 100 acres of established native bush on the Mokihinui River. The nearest settlement, Seddonville, is a five minute drive away.

Susan and Marion will provide full directions when you book.

Rough and Tumble Bush Lodge is marked on the Mokihinui River map. It is at NZMS 260 L28, 281611.

  • The main lodge features exposed beams, cathedral ceilings and a handcrafted stone fireplace.

  • Each guest room accommodates up to four people in a downstairs bedroom and a "bird's eye view" loft bedroom.
  • Very comfortable beds and quality linens. Beds can be configured as kings or two singles.

    - a cooked breakfast
    - picnic-style lunch
    - evening hors d'oeuvres
    - a sumptuous dinner

Full service

Double occupancy: $200 per person per night
Third and fourth guests: $155 per person per night
Single occupancy: $250 per night
Children aged 2 - 12: Half price (under 2 free)
Exclusive use minimum: $1600 per night

Self-catering

(exclusive use groups only for a minimum of two nights.)

Double occupancy: $100 per person per night
Third and fourth guests: $50 per person per night
Children aged 2 - 12: Half price (under 2 free)
Minimum charge: $800 per night

Cancellation policy

Due to the nature of Rough and Tumble's business, cancellations have a significant affect and a strict cancellation policy applies:

  • Cancellation within 30 days of arrival date: 30% forfeit of the total booking price.
  • Cancellation within 7 days of arrival date: 100% forfeit of the total booking price.

However, if you reschedule, the cancellation fee is applied to your new booking provided it is within 12 months of the original reservation. And, if your room is rebooked, no cancellation fee applies.
