Testimonials

"Mary and Garry,

Thank you for a wonderful and unique backcountry experience staying in your comfortable family cottage overlooking and near the Rangitikei river. We enjoyed the fishing and you taking time out to share the open spaces and station activities with us.   We hope to come again soon." Ken Beere

"We spent a fantastic early autumn weekend at River Cottage.  Our party was two 50ish couples.  We are all learning the art of fly fishing.  River Cottage is perfectly located on the Gentle Annie Road on a bluff above the Rangitiki River.  It is less than a 5 minute walk to the river and there great fishing pools a kilometre in each direction up and down the river. Even us novices were able to catch a few nice fish.  The Cottage itself is a nicely presented three  bedroom farmhouse with a full kitchen and lovely lounge with a wood-burner.  Very cosy and comfortable with spectacular views out all windows. The kitchen is fully equipped and we made good use of it as we prepared all of our meals over the weekend.  In summary it was a perfect weekend with friends and we give our highest recommendation to River Cottage.” Geoff Bennett Napier

"What a wonderful stay for Anna and myself. Very quiet, comfortable and great fishing." Doug Stevens nzfishing.com

Set in big country by the Rangitikei river

River cottage is a haven for a restful reviver.

Comfortable and clean with spectacular views
It’s a place to get rest, and forget the news
Maybe catch a trout, on the evening rise
While you see the sun, set before your eyes
Go for a walk and watch the livestock graze
Or swim in the river if that’s the latest craze
So come to the station and have family fun
At the River cottage, on the Otu-pai run
