| Flyfishing introduction course |
The flyfishing introduction
course suits those wishing to start fly fishing, through to anglers
of some years experience who want to improve their basic skills.
About the course
- Two full days from 9am to 5pm
- Limited to a maximum of twelve students
- Runs around 25 times a year
- Approximately 8 hours indoors in a lecture/discussion
group
- Approximately 6 hours outdoors on the water
fly casting
- Morning and afternoon teas and a light lunch
are provided.
- Top of the range Sage rods can be provided,
although you may use your own if you prefer.
- You will need to bring clothing, and footwear
for outdoors, pen and notepaper

- Entomology: what trout eat, and what flies
to use

The advanced fly fishing
course is suitable for more expereicned anglers wishing to improve
their skills.
About the course
- Two days in duration
- Limited student numbers
- Two instructors
- Runs five or six times a year
- One full day of advanced fly-casting tuition
- Half a day practicing the presentations on
a local stream.
- Half a day fly-tying clinic under the instruction
of professional fly-tyer, Reg McLintock from Mainstream Flies.
- Morning and afternoon teas are provided.
- Top of the range Sage rods can be provided,
although you may use your own if you prefer.
- You will need to bring your own lunch, clothing,
and footwear for outdoors, pen and notepaper

- Reach mends
- Parachute casts
- Curve casts
- Double hauling
- Other techniques for distance casting
- Techniques for andling windy conditions

Casting tuition: NZ $50 an hour
(with a minimum charge of NZ $100 for 2 hours or less)
Fly fishing courses (2 days)
Introductory course: NZ $280
Advanced course: NZ $250
Guiding
One angler: NZ$650.00 (excluding GST) per day
Two anglers: NZ$700.00 (excluding GST per day
(includes 4WD transport, sumptuous lunch, snacks
and drinks)
