Kehu Guiding / Kehu Lodge

Boris Cech of Kehu Guiding is a professional trout-fishing guide based at Kehu Lodge, near Lake Rotoiti in the Nelson Lakes National Park, a mountainous area of pristine beauty.  Boris is passionate about providing an exceptional fly fishing experience.

Local fly fishing rivers are accessed by 4WD or helicopter, and wilderness overnight camp outs are available.

Accommodation

Boris and Lee are more than happy to help you choose and arrange whichever type of accommodation suits both your personal requirements and your budget. Or you may like to stay at Kehu Lodge with with Boris and Lee as your hosts.

Kehu Lodge

Kehu Lodge is a small mountain lodge in a tranquil private setting. It accommodates only two guests at a time in a twin/double room with an ensuite bathroom and mountain views.  The 40 acre property borders the Nelson Lakes National Park.

Tariff

For the 2006/07 fishing season:

NZ $300.00 single

NZ $480.00 double or twin share

The tariff includes a three course gourmet dinner, wine, accommodation and a full continental or cooked breakfast. (Lunch is provided within the daily guiding fee.)

Daily guiding fee

NZ$680.00 (GST of 12.5% is included in this rate) per day for 1 or 2 anglers. This includes transport, lunch, tackle, and flies.

Transfers

Nelson airport to Lake Rotoiti one way: $NZ190.00
Nelson airport to Murchison one way: $NZ200.00

Overnight campouts

NZ$150.00 per person per night covers the use of all camping equipment, sleeping bags, bush dinner with wine, breakfast, and beverages.

Road trips

On road trips, the cost of the guide's accommodation and meals are paid by angler as well as his/her own. The cost depends on on the venues requested or chosen by the angler.

Getting there

Kehu Guiding and Kehu Lodge are located on State Highway 63, towards the north of New Zealand's South Island. Lake Rotoiti is 4kms north-east of the township of St Arnaud and equidistant from Nelson and Blenheim at a distance of approximately 90 kms.

Anglers generally fly to Nelson airport and either hire a rental car and drive to Lake Rotoiti. Alternatively Kehu Lodge are able to arrange a transfer to your accommodation at Lake Rotoiti.

Domestic airfares are typically less expensive when purchased from within New Zealand. Please feel free to request domestic flight price details and/or rental car costs.

Booking/
cancellation policies

To avoid disappointment, reservations need to be made well in advance.

Booking and cancellation policies are as follows:

  • Reservations are secured by a 25% deposit
  • Reservations cancelled 61 days plus prior forfeit the full deposit
  • Reservations cancelled 60 days and less prior are charged the full price of the booking unless a replacement angler is arranged.
