Fly fishing guides Frank and Carol Harwood are based in Turangi close to the Tongariro River and many small small streams around Lake Taupo where it is possible to fish almost every day of the year.

Stream nymphing is most popular and successful but Frank and Carol cater for all types of fishing. As House of Hardy fly casting instructors, they can provide advice and instruction to novice and more experienced anglers as required.

Daily fishing trips

Daily fishing trips include transport to and from your fishing, packed lunches and refreshments and any fishing tackle you may have left behind.

One week fishing package

Weekly packages cater for groups of four anglers based on twin share accommodation costs. Arrive on a Sunday, fish from Monday morning through to the following Saturday, and leave on Sunday morning.

The package includes two professional fishing guides for 6 days (two anglers per guide) and accommodation for 7 nights.

If you're bring your own fishing gear, what you'll need is:

In summer:

• 5/6 weight and 8 weight rods with both floating and sinktip lines - a sink tip extention is ideal.
• Lightweight waders

In winter:

• A 7/8 weight rod with floating and high speed sinking lines
• Neoprene waders
