Description Parkinsons is a very small lake of around 1.5 hectares. It is easily fish from the shore though wind can be a problem as it is well exposed to the prevailing westerly. Lake Parkinsons is a good lake for the novice angler as its open aspect and high concentration of stocked fish make it an ideal environment for the learner angler. Weed can be a problem at the height of summer.
Access Access to Parkinsons Lake from Waiuku is along Kariotahi Road, left into Codlin Road, then right into Whiriwhiri Road. Continue south along Whiriwhiri Road past Lake Otamatearoa (Muirs).
Methods All methods are suitable for this lake. Spinning as particularly popular particularly with younger anglers that those employing lake style and nymph fishing will also do well. As the lake is relatively shallow, floating lines are best.
Recommended lures

Nymphs: Damsel and dragonfly nymphs fished from a floating line along the weed beds.

Dry flies: In summer a cicada, cricket or beetle pattern and from late summer, lace flies.

Wet flies: Bully patterns such as Mrs Simpson, Kilwell's No 1 and Lord's Killer or a Red Setter slowly harled around the weed beds. During the warm evenings in late spring early summer small emerging sedge patterns such as an Invicta or Greenwell's Glory fished just subsurface in front of rising fish.

Spinners: Black and gold Tobys and small dark Veltic or Mepps.
