The top trout fishing rivers in Hawke's Bay include:

The Mohaka River is a large premier fishery offering a range of angling experiences from remote wilderness fishing to easily accessible waters for a good population of trout, many of which can reach trophy size.

The Ngaruroro River is a large fishery offering approximately a hundred kilometres of fishable water for a good population of rainbow trout and a reasonable population of brown trout. From the remote backcountry fishery in the upper reaches to the easily accessible waters in the middle and lower reaches, this river provides opportunities for all types of fishing and for all levels of experience.

The Tukituki River River and its tributaries provide a wide variety of fishing experiences for a large population of wild rainbow and brown trout.

The Tutaekuri River provides top-quality fishing for a large population of rainbow trout some of which reach very large sizes.

Lake Tutira is a good spot for young anglers and a very pleasant destination.

The Waipawa River is the major tributary of the Tukituki River and offers excellent fishing for hard-fighting rainbow and brown trout.
