Collingwood-Puponga Main Road Bridge

Travelling north, continue past Collingwood on the Collingwood-Puponga Road to Aorere Bridge. Park on the left (Collingwood) side of the bridge.

Swamp Road

Ring Lindsay Nalder for access on (03) 524 8309.

From SH60, turn right into the Collingwood-Bainham Main Road. Turn right into Swamp Road and park at the Fish & Game sign. Please leave gates as found.

Devils Boots

From SH60, turn right into the Collingwood-Bainham Main Road until Caves Road. From Caves Road follow the narrow track to the gate and park there. Walk on the track past the cattle yard and over the stile at the gate. Then walk towards the river and take the stile over the last fence.

Gillies Road

From SH60, turn right into the Collingwood-Bainhan Main Road and follow it across the Aorere River at Rockville Bridge. Take the first left past Aorere Hall into McKay Pass Road. Travel around 300km, then turn left into Gillies Road. After 1.1 km, park at the Fish & Game access signs.

James Road

From SH60, turn right into the Collingwood-Bainham Main Road and follow it across the Aorere River at Rockville Bridge. Take the first left past Aorere Hall into McKay Pass Road. Turn left into James Road. Follow James Road for 1 km and park at the Fish & Game access sign. A short steep track leads to the river.

James Road Bridge

From SH60, turn right into the Collingwood-Bainham Main Road and follow it across the Aorere River at Rockville Bridge. Take the first left past Aorere Hall into McKay Pass Road. Turn left into James Road and cross the bridge over the Aorere River. Park in the large area provided at the Fish & Game access sign.

Aorere Valley Road Bridge

From SH60, turn right into the Collingwood-Bainham Main Road and follow it across the Aorere River at Rockville Bridge. Take the first left past Aorere Hall into McKay Pass Road. Follow McKay Pass Road past James Road. At the T intersection, turn left into Aorere Valley Road, then left again into Quartz Range Road. Cross the Aorere River over Salisbury Bridge and park on the left at the Fish & Game access sign. Go over the stile and follow the track to the river. There is a good spin fishing spot off the rocks at the confluence with Salisbury Creek.

15 Mile Bridge

From SH60, turn right into the Collingwood-Bainham Main Road and follow it across the Aorere River at Rockville Bridge. Take the first left past Aorere Hall into McKay Pass Road. Follow McKay Pass Road past James Road. At the T intersection, turn left into Aorere Valley Road. Follow Aorere Valley Road and cross the bridge over 15 Mile Creek. Park on the right side. Either cross the road and follow the creek down to the river, or walk up the road for about 30 metres and follow the track to the riverbed.

Walsh Creek

From SH60, turn right into the Collingwood-Bainham Main Road and follow it across the Aorere River at Rockville Bridge. Take the first left past Aorere Hall into McKay Pass Road. Follow McKay Pass Road past James Road. At the T intersection, turn left into Aorere Valley Road. Follow Aorere Valley Road until you reach the small wooden bridge over Walsh Creek. Park on the left side at the Fish & Game access sign. There is typical open rock beach fishing with the best fishing upstream.

Road End

The road ends at the start of the Heaphy Track and the Brown River Walk.
