Paynes Ford
Bridge
The Paynes Ford reserve is off SH60 south
of Takaka, on the true
left of the Takaka River. Park at the reserve (where there
are also picnic tables and toilets). Cross the river to the
Waingaro River confluence which enters on the true
left.

Waingaro Road
From SH60 south of Paynes Ford, turn into
Hamama Road and then take the first right into Waingaro Road.
Park in the tanker loop keeping clear of the road. There is
foot access only along the raceway for about 600 metres to
the river. Please leave gates as found and take care not to
touch of electric fences. |

End of Hamama Road
From SH60 south of Paynes Ford, turn into
Hamama Road.
Ring the landowner Larry Petterson (03)
525 9902 for access permission and directions. Note that the
upper reaches are in a steep, isolated gorge and the current
is swift.
