M25 Collingwood
Description The river flows through beautiful bush in a series of rapids, glides and pools over a shingle and rock bed. It holds a reasonable number of fish but is seldom fished. The fish are still challenging to catch however and stealth is required. More recommended for its scenic beauty than for the quality of the fishing or the quantity of fish.
Fish numbers and size Low to moderate numbers of fish that average around a 3lb average.
Ease of fishing For anglers prepared to walk and push through vegetation in places this is a very attractive river to fish.
Access

Access is via a small secondary road from Collingwood. The road follows the river's lower reaches for a few kilometres otherwise it is necessary to walk into the remote upper reaches.

Recommended lures

Nymphs: Small nymphs such as Hare and Copper, Pheasant Tails in small sizes. Some weight is required to get flies down into the deeper pools where the trout often lie in the warmer times of the day.

Dry flies: Small flies such as Hardies Favourite, Dad's Favourite and March Brown all work well at all times of the day. Fish bushier flies over the faster water.

Wet flies: Small wets such as Greenwell's Glory and March Brown work well when fished sub-surface. These flies are very good when fishing the evening rise.

Spinners: Small bladed spinners (Mepps or Veltic) fished into the faster water or through the deep pools are best for this small river. Silver spinners of the Toby pattern work well at the mouth and in the estuary region when the whitebait attract the larger sea-run trout.
