CFR Casting Programme for Breast Cancer
|Casting For Recovery
Casting for Recovery (CFR) provides retreats
and courses at no cost to participants, which allow people whose lives have
been profoundly affected by breast cancer to gather in a beautiful,
natural setting and learn to fly fish.
||A one day casting programme teaches participants the skills of flyfishing from casting through to fly tying.

Free one-day casting school with Federation of Fly Fishing instructor Peter Carty.
Learn the basics of casting a fly so that by the end of the day you're able to cast a fly (and so catch a trout).
|Who are your coaches?
||Coaching is provided by Peter Carty as well as CFR staff and volunteers.
|Who is eligible to attend?
Any age and stage may apply.
This is a first come first accepted course so no
paperwork is required just your registration. When the course numbers are full
we will keep a waiting list as there are oftent cancellations.
|What is provided
All fishing equipment and hot beverages will be provided.
|What you need to bring
||Just bring your own lunch and a positive attitude.
The one day programme is typically:
- Meet at the National Trout Centre for coffee/tea and introductions
- Learn how to assemble the gear
- Basic casting
- A bit of a chat about entemology (what trout eat and how to catch and release a trout so it will live for another day)
- Advanced casting
- Clean up and departure
