Fishing Season by Philip Weigall
 |
Fishing
Season is the latest book by one of Australasia’s foremost
flyfishing authors, Philip Weigall.
Fishing Season, described by Sir Robert Jones
as "a truly lovely book, beautifully made and presented
and reminiscent of the craftsmanship one associates with 19th century
book publishing..." is a celebration of all that
is great about fly fishing.
‘It’s simultaneously a brutal
and beautiful scene, carnage and life, and although I release most
of my catch, in a way I’m part of it. For a moment I think
of people who don’t fish, and feel sorry for them.’
Philip Weigall…
This beautiful book is a great addition to all
angler's library.

| The author |
Philip Weigall lives with his partner
and two young sons near Ballarat, Victoria. He is a flyfishing guide
and instructor at Millbrook Lakes, and otherwise fishes and travels
as often as he can. Philip has been writing regularly on all things
flyfishing for twenty years and is presently a columnist and feature
writer for Freshwater Fishing magazine, and editor of Flyfisher
magazine. Fishing Season is his sixth book. |
| About the book |
Philip Weigall deftly captures
all that makes flyfishing a passion for so many. It is an engrossing
read that captures the heart and soul of this pastime that is so
full of challenges, victories, disappointments, frustrations but,
most of all, quiet happiness.
It ponders such important questions as why you
invariably never have the right fly at the right time, how you only
ever lose new pieces of equipment, and why sometimes the unlikeliest
waters have the most to offer. |
| New Zealand waters featured |
The author draws on his experiences fishing Australian
and New Zealand waters, including the Rangitata
River and other Central
South Island region waters and the Owen
River. |

| Review by Sir Robert Jones |
"Let me say at the outset,
it is a truly lovely book, beautifully made and presented and reminiscent
of the craftsmanship one associates with 19th century book publishing..."
"Weigall holds the readers interests with
all sorts of pertinent diversions, written in an easy chatty manner.
I enjoyed reading it and have no doubt Fishing Season would
be an appreciated gift for any fisherman. Highly Recommended"
