Black Marabou trout fly

Description and use The Black Marabou trout fly is a night-time fly best used when conditions are very dark. Represents a bully or smelt and is particularly effective in early summer around lake edges when the smelt are in close to shore. Tied on size 2 to 8 size hooks. It often is tied with a lumo body that will glow for a few minutes after being exposed to light (eg a torch or flashlight) and so is very attractive to trout on dark nights particularly when fishing still waters.
