Description Claret and Mallard trout fly is used all over the world (sometimes referred to as Mallard and Claret). Its design is attributed to an Aberdeen angler, William Murdoch in the early 19th century.

Uses The Claret and Mallard is fished just subsurface and is particularly effective in evenings during the warmer months especially when fish are rising to take emerging sedges and mayflies.
