The South Island is one of the eight finest trout
fishing destinations in the world according to Singapore Airlines.
In the August 2008 issue of Singapore Airlines inflight magazine,
Silver Kris which has a monthly readership averaging 1.6 million
people on over 2500 flights, selects the South Island as one of
the best places to haul in a colossal brown trout. In a 2-page article
titled “where to land the Big One” fishing guide Eric
Stoup states that the South Island is a “land of many streams
