 Kepler Oaks is a charming completely self contained 2 Bedroom Chalet 5 minutes from the Waiau River. The areas of this river were film locations for the Lord Of The Rings movies. Te Anau is the gateway to Fiordland, and is known as the walking capital of the World.

Situated in a beautiful tranquil country location of Te Anau New Zealand, on 13 acres above the grand Waiau River. Renowned for fishing and one of the greatest densities of trout per kilomtre in New Zealand. This is a wonderful base for the fishing enthusiasts and families who want to experience New Zealand's great outdoors.

Fishing waters

From the serious angler who wants to target great fish to novices, there is great fishing around your accommodation. The local river the Waiau is only 200 metrea away and is renown for having one of the largest number of fish per kilometre in New Zealand.

Horse riding  

Kepler Oaks Chalet is located within the Fiordland National Park Scenic Reserve in a beautiful tranquil country location, only 5 minutes from 
Te Anau, and 15 minutes to Manapouri.

Transport to and from Te Anau may be available for a small charge.



Kepler Oaks Chalet is totally private with panoramic views from every window. You can sit on the porch  with a coffee or wine, relax and enjoy the glorious views, the birds singing, and the fresh smell of New Zealand's native bush. 

Pets include horses, dog, cat, sheep, chickens and rabbit which are all favourites with guests of all ages. And experience the real New Zealand by taking a horse trek - suitable for all skill levels.


The chalet sleeps 5 people and has:

  • A  queen bed in one bedroom
  • 2 single beds (which can become a king on request) in the second bedroom
  • A mattress available for an extra person.
  • Quality furnishings
  • Cotton linen and towels provided
  • Double-glazing, electric blankets and a multi fuel fire ensure warmth and comfort
  • Fully equipped kitchen with oven, fridge, microwave, sink, cooking equipment, basic pantry items
  • TV and free Wi-Fi access
  • Large bathroom with spa bath

As well as the chalet there is a loft in the homestead that can sleep two people.

Situated only 200 metres from the famous Waiau River and only 600 metres from Lake Te Anau, Keplar Chalets are located in a fishermen’s paradise. Other activities include:


"Helen is very nice and kind. We enjoyed the time and hospitality in her lovely chalet. The fresh baked bread, fruits, free ranged eggs almost just came out of hens, and already-lit fireplace were heart warming in winter. I had a wonderful horse riding experience with Helen's guide along the movie scene of "The lord of the rings.' "

Chalet rates per night are:

  • NZ$250 for 2 adults, and up to 3 children under 12
  • NZ25 for each extra adult

Continental breakfast provisions provided in the Chalet.  Meals may be available on request (menu and price depends on what is available).  Complimentary baking on arrival.  Complimentary bottle of New Zealand wine if staying for 2 or more nights.

Payment methods Cash or internet banking only.
Cancellation policy Should you cancel within 48 hours of your reservation you will be charged the full rate for the first night and the second night will be charged at Kepler Oaks discretion
