Fishing waters

Boat on Waiau

The upper Waiau River between Lake Manapouri and Lake Te Anau. This is one of the healthiest fisheries in the country with around 500 - 600 fish per kilometre. Due to its isolation it is seldom fished. This is ideal water for experienced anglers to test their skills on.

Mark also offers guided fishing on a number of other rivers around the Southland, Fiordland and Te Anau region.

Fishing options

You can choose from two fishing trip options:

  • A half day trip – a morning or afternoon with Mark exploring a river or part of a local lake where the fish are biting … great if you are short of time or want to combine a little fishing with another local attractions or activities.
  • A full-day trip – a day out with Mark river or lake fishing with lunch provided. (Mark has great contacts for local produce — freshly caught crayfish (lobster) or local venison is likely to be on the menu.) … Plenty of time to try multiple fishing spots and experience the beauty of  Fiordland’s waterways. A day’s fishing you won’t forget in a hurry!
