nzfishing.com updates


Win a spinning rod and reel and other great prizes


Take a photo of a child under the age of 18 engaged in some way in the sport of fishing and you will be in to win one of three monthly prizes and the main prize of a bundle of fishing gear that will be the envy of any angler they meet.

Competition closes 5 Nov 2017


To enter, each photo must be sent in a separate email to
doug@nzfishing.com with the title SKIF photo competition.

  • All photos must have the name, contact details and age of the person in the photo
  • Please indicate if you are happy for the young person(s) in the photo to be named if the photo is published
  • Include with any entry the name of the person who took the photo(s) as they are eligible for some great prizes too
  • Multiple entries are allowed.
  • Only electronic images will be accepted
  • Photos must be previously unpublished
  • Photos must be taken in New Zealand of a New Zealand freshwater or freshwater fishing related subject (see below)
  • The competition will run over three months from August to 30 October. Prizes will be awarded at the end of each month for the best entry received that month
  • The monthly winners will be decided by the judges at nzfishing.com
  • By entering the competition, you give permission for the image to be published on nzfishing.com and Suzuki NZ.


Time frame

The last of the competitions will close on Nov 5 and the winning photo will be awarded a prize of a top quality Abu Garcia spinning rod and reel. (Supplied by Pure Fishing)

The top entries will then be published and readers of nzfishing.com will vote for their favourite.

A grand prize of fishing gear (value around $500) will be awarded to the entry that receives the most votes. (All photos including those that won a monthly prize will be eligible for consideration for the grand prize).

Type of photos

Any photo that can show a young person engaged in and aspect of fishing (with or without an adult present) are acceptable.

Photos may be of a fishing scene, holding a fish, casting, setting up, fly tying, etc.

What we are looking for is images that show youngters fully engaged in the fishing experience.
